Always check with a parent before trying out websites on the Internet. Books and More! A forum for fourth and fifth grade students to write about books and other topics. Pagekeeper A "favorites" bookmark page with lots of fun and educational links for kids and teachers. Just type "kateshepard" into the search box to find the page. Search Engine Do you need a good search engine? Try Google. Just type in the topic you need help with and Google does the searching for you! Another great way to search is Answers.com. Instead of giving you links, Answers brings the answers to you. This site annotates websites for your report, and will even translate words into fourteen different languages. Be sure and check out the 1- Click feature. Homework Help Can't think of the right word? Try Dictionary.com. Not only can you find the correct spelling of a word but there is a Thesaurus and much more. Word of the Day is lots of fun! Have you visited Scholastic? There is a special place just for kids. The Test Blaster is great help for getting ready for the SAT's. Be sure and read Master Multiple Choice. Getting back in gear for homework? Children in the state of Alabama have free on-line tutoring at Homework Alabama. The service is available for students in grades 4-12. A variety of subjects are covered and tutoring is one-on-one. Vocabulary Skills Need to practice your vocabulary for the SAT's? Try Free Rice. Students can practice those all important skills while "earning" grains of rice for the United Nations World Food Program. Interactive Websites All Grades National Library of Virtual Manipulatives Activities on this site are divided into activities by age group. Math activities range from simple patterns to data analysis and probability. Students can do these activities on their own or the teacher could do these activities with the whole class. These interactive activities are perfectly suited for the SmartBoard. Funbrain Kids in grades K-5 will enjoy these games. Games can be searched by grade level. Try out Word Confusion to practice those SAT skills. Prongo Be sure and check out Lemonade Larry for some multiplication practice. These activities are divided by grade level. These early learning activities are perfect for practicing mouse and "drag and drop" computer skills.
